One day, I rushed from the rain into a media store where I found a guy looking so miserable. Trying to be of help I asked what the matter was and he lifted his laptop. I tried to find out what the problem with the laptop was so that I could offer whatever help I could. He painfully told me that it fell as he ran with it for shelter from the rain. "How? Don't you have a laptop case or bag?" was of course my next question. Sadly enough he did not carry a laptop case. He kept lamenting about all the data he had stores over the years on that laptop and how he hoped he would not lose them. Well, I was as compassionate as I could but could not resist the urge to tell him that a good laptop bag/case (like mine) would have saved him the stress he was going through.
If you have a laptop and you are a very mobile person, you would not be amongst those asking if they need a laptop case/bag (at least I hope so). Many people today have so much information stored on their laptops. This being the case, people go to a lot of length installing expensive anti-viruses and other guards to shield their laptops from spyware, malware, viruses, hackers etc. Would it then make sense that after spending this funds which most times are recurrent cost, you fail to protect against damageware (I think this word should be added into the geek dictionary)? When you buy your laptop case once, that is that. You do not pay any recurrent bills like you do with your anti-viruses and your laptop can constantly be protected from physical damage.
In addition to holding my laptop, my bag does other jobs too. For the nature of job I do, I require some extra devices and my laptop bag hold all these. I make sure my laptop is in its separate compartment is is well secured, then I put my other tools and even some cloths (some times) into the other compartments. All these many compartments may not be necessary for you but you need to understand what you need in a laptop.
When considering purchasing a laptop case or bag, cost may be an issue but try not to make it the first thing to be considered. Your primary consideration should be how well suited it is for your needs. Many times, the job we do influences the choice of laptop case or bag we have to make. Do you want your hands free when you carry your laptop? If you do, then a backpack laptop bag should be your choice. There are of course other types of cases or bags like the brief case type, top loading type, ladies type, messenger style type, rolling type etc. In fact, more types may surface before I am through with writing this article. This goes to show that there is a rush to reach more users by offering cases that would appeal to them more. All in all, your laptop case or bag must be convenient for you to carry, it must not be too heavy, it should not be too large for the size of your laptop which means you should buy according to the size of your laptop so it can be held securely in place. After considering all of the above, you can look at the material they are made with. Does being able to provide cover from rain and other weather situations a necessity?. After checking this and of course the quality of the material, you can then with a sense of financial responsibility consider the price.
